That night we stayed at this beautiful bed and breakfast (Cape Chin Connection Country Inn). It sits amid the lush green fields and verdant woodland of the northern Bruce Peninsula. Being located right along the Bruce trail it is especially well-frequented by hikers but its fame amongst the caving community was as a home base for Derek Ford’s explorations of the local cave systems with his student expeditions from MacMaster University.
Of special note is the spa, set off in a little garden house some distance into the trees. We had an relaxing soak there in the froth and bubbles. It was the perfect end to a busy day of rambling. The pool is lit from beneath by a blue light, making the enclosure seem like we were underwater and the seething foam, like the surf was breaking just overhead.
