This may be a way over-late response, but they are monitored from what I heard. Motion sensors mostly, so during the day they ignore the movement as it is likely staff, but at night they'll investigate people in the tunnels. Word is expulsion if you're caught.

Hey brad there definately are caves in the niagara region as i grew up there. There is one about 5 minutes away from Rockway Gorge and there is also one small one near glendale campus Niagara college...both caves are rather small...If you like caves You should check out Mt Nemo, Rattlesnake point and Kelso in Burlington....I know of roughly 8 caves at Mt Nemo alone They are all rather long-ish and fairly deep

Happy caving

Hi Michal
Sorry I cant help as I have never been over to the mine, but there are directions to the Blaauwbank Gold Mines on their web site.
When you go there can you ask around as to the old owners names upto 1915 and to present day.
Names to look out for are Otto or Charles Harcourt or Otto or Charles Ascroft and members of the James Jennings family upto the present day.
Other names to do with the mine are members of the Greville and Clough families.
Also related company names.
Thankyou.

I was curious if anyone knows exactly how to get to the Harcourt Graphite mine? Know where the road to the mine starts? I have been trying to find this mine but directions are a bit sketchy in the old guidebooks. I am close but not close enough.

Thanks
