Maggie and I took a tour up the Sarapique River one afternoon while in Costa Rica. All along the banks there were large alligators, snakes sunning themselves, and children splashing. Somewhere close to here the deeper transparent green water of the main Sarapique joins a yellow torrent that apparently comes from a volcanoe. The scene in the background is of a local farm. From here the Sarapique runs on into Nicaragua and I am told that there are class 3 whitewater rapids somewhere further up stream.
