This is kind of an artsy picture that I took at the Bonnechere Caves near Ottawa. We were headed up to my sister in laws wedding and stopped by here along the way. Its a neat place with a huge amount of caving potential but its so far from Guelph that it would be a real effort to make a proper investigation.
As for Ontario caving the Toronto Cave group seems to concentrate its efforts along the Niagara escarpment, out towards the karst around Belleville and up to the Bruce Peninsula. This area is the turf of the “Niebelungen Spelo Club”. They derive their name from some Wagnerian opera. The Niebelung was a cave dwarf who featured in that production. There was once another caving club in Ontario called “Rockreations” but I am unsure as to whether they are still active. James Sled their president had told me that they were especially interested in the Quinte area. It appeared that they knew of several really interesting caves that non of us in the TCG had heard of.
