Travel with Renaldo

“I love Americans” says Renaldo as he jumps into the car. He is a friend of Heraldo, our driver. He is just married and has a small child. The tip from our excursion is badly needed income. We pick up an ice box from Heraldo’s house, I buy the beer at the Super 98. “Hey Palo”, Renaldo shouts to an old guy who staggers past in a dirty green shirt. A sign out front says, “Dont worry be huggie”. “Schick” “Imperial is good yes?” Heraldo says something in Spanish. Renaldo translates, “It is the time of the mangoes”. I asume it is said referring to the ditch alongside that is littered with ripe fruit.
